"We picked a dandy little day to run this boat, with heavy rain and lots of squalls about. It was not the sort of day you'd choose to go outside fishing"

The
PRO GUIDE”
The purpose built Professional Guide Boat.
Cleverly fitted out.
|
|
|
The Stinger 723 PRO GUIDE is fitted out well. Features are as follows,:
Raised rear deck / front deck / Casting Platforms . It is very important to be able to get up as high as possible to get the most accurate cast. Lure and fly fishermen like to see their quarry. The front casting platform is approximately 1.5 square meters in size. Access to the anchor locker and separate front storage locker is via two top access hatches .The rear raised deck is also very large with access doors to the rear storage locker and ice box.
Large built in live bait tank. The live bait tank extends right across the width of the boat. Because of the easy access from either side each fishermen can get his own live bait. Live bait tank can be supplied with outside water via a pattern of 6mm holes through the hull bottom. We have found that when underway copious amounts of fresh sea water comes into the live well and the water level in the tank is controlled by a skin fitting in the side of the hull as an overflow. When fishing at rest, sufficient water is forced in and out of the pattern of holes to keep the tank fresh and the bait fish alive. The live well in the GW ProGuide has proven to be highly successful with very low bait loss over a full days fishing. This is due to the water access system (no pump required) and the large surface area.
Built in ice box is positioned immediately behind the live bait well and extends across the width of the boat and is 1.6 meters long x 400 mm wide X 380 mm deep giving 180 ltr capacity. The ice box can be accessed from either side of the driving seat. This ice box is big enough to hold a large catch.
Rear storage / fuel tank locker. The ProGuide has two carry on fuel tanks of 22 Ltrs each although three carry on tanks can be fitted in the rear locker as well as other bits and pieces. We also offer as an alternative a 70 Ltr built in tank. A built in tank will be a better use of the available space and will leave more room for other necessary items. The mandatory (a survey requirement) high capacity manual bilge pump is located in the rear locker.
Raised helm station is the really unusual feature of the boat. The high steering position gives excellent visibility ahead looking for signs of fish activity while on the move and allows the operator to keep a watchful eye on the fishermen in his care. This high position together with hydraulic steering makes for a really good feel of the boat while underway. In fact during sea trials on the prototype boat, the feel and position of the raised helm station gave such a sense of control that I have not experienced before in any other boat. The “Stinger 723 Pro Guide” is highly maneuverable and it's fun to drive.
Built in rod storage tubes. Four 50 mm rod holder tubes extend rearward from the front of the rear raised deck. The rods are inserted tip first and the butt is secured on the side of the boat with a clip in fitting. This feature will give secure storage for those expensive fly rods while on the move.
Built in rod holders. There are 12 rod holders incorporated in the stainless steel safety rails which means each fisherman has a rod holder on each side of his seating position which gives him easy access to a rod holder no matter which side he is fishing. Additionally there are two on the forward casting platform , and two on the rear raised deck. Great care has been taken to have no sharp edges on the top of the gunnels or rails to catch and tangle delicate fly line.
Bucket seats for 4 Fishermen with storage box under. The bucket seats are comfortable and uncrowded. The front three fisherman have plenty of room to swivel through a full circle. The aft most fisherman can swivel through 180 degrees. The seating height has been carefully worked out to maximize storage under each seat. The storage box under each seat has room enough for individual lunch boxes, life jacket and personal belongings such as spectacles, wallet and watch.
Front Storage Bin. The front storage bin has a 600 liter (approx) capacity , which is huge, plenty of space for life jackets, camping gear and other bulky gear. The large 750 x 500 mm hinged hatch gives easy access for bulky items. The storage bin finishes level at the top together with the door covering the anchor well .
Self Draining Deck. The lower deck is self draining out through the transom. via two 50 mm tubes and has a non return marine fitting at the rear of each port. The rear fuel / storage locker is also self draining out through the transom. The large ice box has a bung to the outside for drainage. The entire boat and all it's various compartments can be hosed out for efficient cleaning.
Built in foam flotation. Approved foam flotation is incorporated under the floor , in the sides, and in the gunnel cap. The flotation is in excess of survey requirements.
All in all , a really good boat, for the Professional Guide who wants a workhorse that is a long way better than average.
THE GW ProGuide shown below is powered by a 50Hp Yamaha 4 stroke. An excellent example of the extremely efficient hull design, which makes operational costs very low, a very important factor in making your guiding business profitable.

The
STINGER 723 PRO GUIDE was first developed in consultation with leading fishing guide Gary Wright of Wilderness Safaris located at Cape York.
Gary Wright has been in the guiding business for in excess of 20 years and works out of Seisia Village at Cape York. Anybody who has been fortunate enough to fish with Gary at Seisia will tell you that Seisia is “the place” and there could not be anything better in a Fisherman’s want list, than a full weeks fishing at Seisia with the legendary Gary Wright.
Gary has put many years thought into what he expects from a fishing boat. He has operated a 19 foot Longboat ( PNG Banana Boat) for the last 8 years and his experience told him that when it came time to upgrade his main working boat, he had to have another longboat. There is just nothing out there that can come close to the all round performance that the longboat concept can offer.
Gary has clients who love to sight fish for big Barra on lure and fly fishing gear, so his new boat had to be able to operate well in the shallows, and then other clients like to get out into the open sea and chase a Spaniard or two, so the new boat needed to be able to handle the rough chop and offshore work as well.
Low cost running is very important these days, that's why Gary choose the latest Yamaha 50 four stroke to drive the “Stinger 723 Pro Guide”. You might think that's a bit light on for power, but not so, look at these figures.
2000 revs = 6 knots ( 11 kph )
3000 revs = 12 knots ( 12 kph )
4000 revs = 18 knots ( 33 kph )
5000 revs = 21 knots ( 38 kph )
It must be emphasized that the “Stinger 723 Pro Guide” was fully loaded with Driver and four passengers plus safety gear. The Yamaha 50 Hp x 4 stroke is fitted with a standard 15 inch aluminum propeller. The performance is remarkable. This economy of operation alone makes the Stinger Pro Guide a very viable proposition for any Professional Guide. |
